This is a photo of some of the packing paper that comes in my Stampin' Up! boxes. I have seen others use this paper for projects so I decided to give it a whirl.
I decided to put my sewing machine to use and make some little treat bags with the Etruscan Elegance Stampin' Around Wheel and Toxic Treats (wood, clear) stamp set.
Isn't that too cool?! I was really pleased with how it turned out...and, best of all, I have a ton of this stuff...well, not a ton, but--you know.
I started with a 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 piece and stitched about 1/2 inch from the edges. It turned out to be a little "taller" than I wanted so I trimmed about an inch off the top.
Labels Framelits were used to cut the stamped image and the Howlstooth and Scaringbone Designer Series Paper. A Brights Old Olive Button and Basic Black Narrow Taffeta Ribbon provode the accents.
inklings:
- I had the best results with a long straight stitch. Too small of a stitch looked like a perforation.
- The packing paper is a bit "wrinkled" but since I was going to cinch it at the top, I didn't worry about that.
- The stamping on the bag really made a difference and provided a nice backdrop for the bag.
- I used my Color Spritzer Tool to add an Old Olive splatter effect to the tag.
