Organization Tip for Card Makers and Paper Crafters

Cardstock-organization-tipAs a card maker and paper crafter, I'm sure you can relate to the idea of the need for organization regarding card stock.

Let's face it, we deal with a LOT of paper. Big pieces, small pieces, scraps (whatever you want to call it), you need some sort of organization if you plan on actually using it for a project, right?

Today's tip is a "Part 2" to our card stock cutting tip from earlier this month (see it here).  It will speak to the "method to the madness" and you all know what I'm talking about there.

Let's take a look at the video and maybe it will spark an idea for your space/closet/area where you create.  Let's give it a whirl...

See this organizational tip for card makers and paper crafters on You Tube HERE.

While this idea won't work for everyone, maybe it will be of help in what you can do to make your work and creating area more organized which in turn will help you be more productive.

The plastic storage drawers can be found at most big box stores or at Amazon at the link below:

https://www.amazon.com/Sterilite-ClearView-Storage-Drawer-Organizer/dp/B001KN12PI/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1511897330&sr=8-15&keywords=sterilite+storage+containers

I have some 12 x 12 stacking drawers to stack most of my full packages and 12 x 12 card stocks and designer papers.

For some beautiful storage options for papers, punches, inks, etc., visit the Stamp-n-Storage site.

As a card maker and paper crafter, I hope you've found this information organization helpful and I hope you'll share with me your ideas that have proved helpful for you!

DIY Mini Gift Idea for Christmas

2017-christmas-gift-coffee-1Today's project is a DIY min gift idea for Christmas that would be a nice thinking of you gift for co-workers, neighbors, or friends.  It was inspired by another "coffee" project that was shared for Halloween.  This one is a bit less involved because we can all use quick and simple projects this time of year, right?

The original idea combined two of our Stampin' Up! Clear Tiny Treat Boxes but I think this single version is just as cute!  Let's take a look at the original videos and you can decide if you'd like the single or double version.  I'll share a few details about this single version below.

See part 1 on You Tube HERE.

See Part 2 on You Tube HERE.

Lisa's Inklings:

  • Today's makeover version uses a single box that is assembled and with lid closed after the gift is tucked inside.
  • The strip of designer paper that surrounds the box measures 1 1/2" x 9".
  • You'll need approx 4"x 4" piece of designer paper to die cut cup and a thin piece of the Cherry Cobbler diagonal stripe in this collection to  die cut the straw.
  • A piece of vellum cut 2" x 2" should be big enough to die cut the lid and 3" x 3" piece of Crumb Cake to die cut the wrap.
  • Color your Rhinestones with a Stampin' Blends Marker!

Here are the Stampin' Up! Supplies for today's project.

Tuesday Tip: Card Stock Tips for Your Christmas Cards

Card-stock-tips-christmas-cards-11-14

Today's tips on card stock is one that may be helpful for you while working on your Christmas and holiday cards.  These tips are ones that I use every time that I make cards!  I realize that many of you may be aware of this already, but if not, you just might find this very helpful when making batches of cards...or, as I often say, a gazillion cards!

It's a quick video, so please take a couple of minutes to watch.  You just might find it to be a time saver when making cards!

Click here to see the Card Stock Tips video on You Tube.

Lisa's Inklings:

  • Keep a supply of these neutral card inserts in a box or container.  This way, you'll have what you need to complete a card at your fingertips.
  • You might be tempted to trash those extra 1/2" strips.  I can't tell you how many times these thin strips have "saved" me...and, I'm talking saving time!  Who can't use more of that?
  • If you'll keep a stack of both Very Vanilla and Whisper White, you'll always have the right neutral for whatever standard sized card you make.
  • Cutting instructions: With the 8 1/2" side at the top of your trimmer, cut at 4" and set aside, then take the remaining piece and cut at 4" again.  Save that 1/2" strip that is left over! Next, take each of the 4" strips and cut in half at 5 1/2". The long side should be up across the top of your trimmer.

Make A Thanksgiving Hostess Gift!

Diy-hostess-gift-1Today's project is a great idea for a Thanksgiving or holiday dinner hostess gift.   It's a jumbo size tag that serves as a type of gift packaging for a pretty fall themed kitchen towel.  The beautiful Gourdness provides the main image with the Autumn Harvest Designer Series Paper as the backdrop.  You can see another video using this set in yesterday's tip post HERE.

I found these towels at a local fabric store in this Crushed Curry-like color.  I knew it would be a beautiful companion for Painted Autumn collection.  Seriously, don't miss this suite in the Holiday Catalog.  It has been SUPER popular...Painted Harvest stamp set and Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper. That stamp set is bundled with that a precious leaf punch that you'll be able to use on lots of projects.  I'll have the links to these along with the supplies for this project below the video.
