Makeover Monday Video Tutorial- Tying Ribbon in Cardmaking

Tying-ribbon-cardmaking-1Welcome to this week's Makeover Monday where you can learn an easy way to tie ribbons on your card making projects.  This is a simple but classic layout on this birthday card and the ribbon is the finishing touch.

For this design you can use any designer paper, coordinating card stock and ribbon.  You can let the designer paper be in the spotlight and add a simple sentiment for any occasion.   This paper is retiring and discounted (Click HERE---it may still be available!), and if you're like most paper crafters, you have a stash that you can dig through to make this work.

Take a look at the video below and read on for information on cutting dimensions.

Lisa's Inklings:

  • Card base is cut 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/2".
  • Cut your designer paper at 4" x 5 1/4" and a different coordinating print at 1 1/4" x 4".
  • Use a contrasting color of  coordinating card stock and cut at 1 1/2" x 4" to back the strip of designer paper.
  • You'll need a piece of a light color neutral to stamp and punch your sentiment.
  • Notice that I leave the ribbon on the spool in the video.  If you can do this, you'll save on ribbon by not cutting it too short or too long.

Just wanted to remind you that there are still many items available on the 2017 Stampin' Up! Retiring List.

Some items are 40% -50% off!  See a list of my favorites HERE.

If you'd like to take a peek at the full list, click here to gain access.

Several items have sold out but are still listed.  If you have questions, please let me know.

Makeover Monday Video Tutorial- Making A Special Birthday Card

Make-a-special-birthday-cardLet's start the week off with a special birthday greeting for today's cardmaking project.  This card layout is one of my favorites.  It is such a simple one but has a unique twist by angling pieces of card stock behind the main layer.  Here you can see that the contrasting colors used were "copied" from the colors of ink used for the stamped image.

The Oh So Succulent Bundle used here is a favorite from the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog.  There are so many possibilities and combinations with the stamp set and coordinating framelits.  Used separately or together, you'll come up with endless ideas for your springtime crafting.  Succulents are all the rage now in home decor and crafting.  Love that Stampin' Up! is right on trend.

The video below is the card that was the inspiration for today's makeover. You can see the original post about this card HERE. Take a look and then read on for some specifics.

Lisa's Inklings:

  • Base is cut 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/2".

Tried and True Technique... Embossing for Cardmaking!

Make a Bold and Lovely Birthday CardThere's no doubt about it: the embossing technique is still a great technique to use in cardmaking.

Have your tried embossing?  Do you remember the first time you watched the "magic" as the heat tool melted the powder to make your card just pop?

Today's card has a bold birthday statement that is kicked up a notch with the heat embossing technique.  This card is also the "sister" to the masculine Makeover Monday Valentine card from earlier this week seen HERE.

Let's take a look at the easy process for this card in today's video tutorial.

Here are the products that were use to make this card...You'll LOVE that Falling in Love paper!

Embossing is an easy technique that makes any cardmaking project extra special.  Must haves are the Clear and White Stampin' Emboss Powders.  For a really special touch, try our metallics in gold, copper, and silver.
