Have You Tried This Brusho Technique?

0EB70C3B-0155-4E90-8633-F03A3CDF8F95

Have your tried this direct-to-stamp Brusho technique?  It is so artsy and fun!  I just can't say enough good things about Brusho and so happy it is available to use from Stampin' Up!

The colors are so vibrant and there are lots of options depending on how you blend/mix them.

Package includes 5 pots, 1 each of 5 colors: Brilliant Red, Gamboge (orange), Moss Green, Prussian Blue, Yellow

Brusho = Watercolor ink crystals! Sprinkle them directly on water-washed paper and watch the colors burst! Or, sprinkle on watercolor paper and spritz with water! Or, mix with water and watercolor with a brush! There are so many possibilities... there are so many techniques and ways to use this coloring medium. Take a look at the video below.

Click here to see this Brusho Technique video on You Tube.

As you can see in the photos, not two creations ever turn out the same!

Easy Stampin' Up! Birthday Cards

Easy-stampin-up-birthday-card-birthday-memoriesOne of my favorite retiring group of products from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog is this Birthday Delivery stamp set and coordinating framelits bundle and the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper.

The base of this card is one of our colors that is leaving during the new COLOR REVAMP.  If you love "Soft Sky", be sure to get your ink refill and card stock now!

Some crafty folks see fussy cutting as tedious work but I love to do it when chatting on the phone or watching TV.  This paper is awesome with these fun and colorful animal images for birthdays especially for the young folk!   You'll see in today's video tutorial my process of putting this card together.  (Excuse my headset cord!  I'll work on controlling that in future videos!)

Let's take a look at the video...

I'll be sharing some more birthday cards with these products on my Facebook Live tomorrow evening. Be sure to tune in at 7:30 PM, Central Time.

Make A Gatefold Card with Eastern Palace Suite

Gatefold-card-belly-band-4-2aToday's project is a gatefold cardmaking video makeover featuring the Eastern Palace Suite from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  This is a beautiful set and coordinating designer paper with endless possibilties for cardmaking.  It's been quite a while since I've used this set and paper so wanted to share this one today with you.

That front panel is a bit different than what I use on most belly bands.  The band itself can vary in width according to what you like but it needs to be 11" long so you have plenty of room to wrap it around the card and lap it over to adhere it in the back.

Let's take a look at the original video, a Christmas card, below.

Click HERE to see this video tutorial on You Tube.

Lisa's Inklings:

  • The belly band for today's makeover is 2" wide by 11" long.
  • The panel on the band is 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" in Dapper Denim and 2 1/4" x 4" of Very Vanilla.
  • The flower is colored with a Watercolor Pencil and Blender Pen.
  • For gatefold base, cut cardstock to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".  Score at 2 1/8" and  6 3/8".

Dry Embossing for Handmade Cards with Stampin' Up! Products

Handmade-card-ribbon-of-courageStampin' Up! offers some great products  for dry embossing on your handmade cards.  As seen above, the embossing is subtle but adds that special something to make this simple card so pretty!

This embossing is created with the Petal Pair Embossing Folders which are in the Occasions Catalog but you can also earn them for FREE with a qualifying purchase of $50!  I think it makes a beautiful background for these products from the Ribbon of Courage Bundle available in wood mount or clear mount stamps.  That one sweet sentiment surrounded by pretty elements is so special.  Use your tools and dies to make your creations pop!

Let's take a look at the video tutorial below to see how it all comes together.

See this video tutorial on You Tube HERE!

Lisa's Inklings:

  • Play with color.  I usually take my lead on color combos with designer paper.  No designer paper here!  I just went for a color I loved (Pool Party) and found another that would be a contrast yet be pleasing to my eye. Note that I said pleasing to "my eye".  That's what's important.  If you like it, go for it!
  • As mentioned in the video, often times I will die cut shapes in "bulk" in Whisper White then sponge with the color that I need when creating.  Let me tell you...that can be a real time saver.  Give it a try and let me know how it works for you.
  • Click Here for the link to the Ink and Inspirations Project Sheet. You may print this for your file.  Get it HERE.

Handmade-card-dry-embossingI love hearing from you so I have a question...What two colors would you use if your were making this card?  Leave a comment below and let's see how many different combinations we can get! I'll be looking forward to your responses and it will be inspiration for all of us.

Thanks for tuning in for today's Stampin' Up! card idea with dry embossing and I'll see you again soon!

Cardmaking Tip: Fixing Mistakes and Keeping It Real

Today's cardmaking tip video is keeping it real regarding fixing mistakes.  Initially, it started out as a cardmaking video tutorial but it just wasn't heading in the right direction as far as tutorials go.  I was encountering one "oops" after another.  Finally, I just threw my hands up in the air and muttered "Are you KIDDING me??!!"  At that point, it was time to press stop while recording and go to Plan B.

With the next recording, I decided that it would be a good idea to just give a tip on how to fix some of my mistakes.  Good idea, right?  Sure it is.  While I wasn't totally happy with the fix and the outcome, I decided to go ahead with it.  The story needed to be told. :)

See this cardmaking tips, mistakes, and keeping it real video on You Tube HERE.

While the card didn't turn out how I had hoped, it is finished and I will send it to someone.

Lesson...we don't need to be so hard on ourselves when things are not "perfect".  We were not made to be perfect.  We were meant to be real, kind, and the best version of ourselves.  And, that's what we should all be working toward.  All attainable...progress not perfection.

Now if you like the products used on today's card, take a look at this post with a cute card and box.
