Tuesday Tip- To Snip or Not to Snip?

Tip-6-13-snipsThis week's tip is a very basic one regarding our super scissors in the Stampin' Up! Catalog, Paper Snips.

Notice that I have two pair of scissors in the photo?  There's a big, important reason for that... HUGE!  If you are not aware of this, I promise you, this tip will save you lots of frustration, time, and ribbon!

If you are a seamstress and/or work with fabric, you are probably already aware of the topic of this video tip.  I hope you are and you can say, "I know that, Lisa!" But, just in case you are not aware, I felt compelled to share it because it can make a big difference in your crafting!

Here's the video with THE tip...I hope you'll take a few minutes to watch...it's less than 3 minutes!

Now, if you were not aware of this, I hope this will make a huge difference for your in your paper crafting and cardmaking!  Do you have scissors dedicated to cutting just ribbon and fabric?  I'd love to know!

Handmade Mini Note Cards

Stampin-up-berry-burst-cardToday's makeover features these adorable handmade mini notecards all decked out in the new In Colors from Stampin' Up! And, if you're looking for a good all around new product bundle with the prettiest punch ever, take a look at the Label Me Pretty Bundle HERE.

The Pretty Label Punch is my favorite new punch from the new catalog. It's a great update and replacement for the discontinued Decorative Label Punch and works well with our Circle Punches.  The card above shows off the new In Color, Berry Burst!  Below is the light and citrus-y Lemon Lime Twist.

Stampin-up-lemon-lime-twist-cardTake a good look at the designer paper used on these cards.  We have a new collection called Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack and has 4 each of 2 double sided designs in all the new In Colors.  I love it!  Below you can see a sample of Tranquil Tide.

Stampin-up-tranquil-tide-cardAlso sporting the new In Colors are our new Bitty Bows in all 5 colors.  These are super sweet and each have their own adhesive dot ready and waiting!  Brilliant, Stampin' Up!  Take a look at the rich Fresh Fig version below.

Stampin-up-fresh-fig-cardRounding out our 2017-2019 In Colors is the soft and delicate Powder Pink.  Can't wait to use this one on baby cards!

Stampin-up-powder-pink-cardNow let's take a look at the handmade note card video that was the inspiration for these cards.

New Wood Crate Notes

Wood-crate-notes-1How about this DIY Gift idea...wood crate notes?

Just when you think that Stampin' Up! could not possibly come up with another cute container idea, we are introduced to the these wood crates. Super simple to cut and assemble, these cute crates have so many possibilities and pair well with the new designer paper stack, Wood Textures.

Let's just see how many ideas we can name to put in these little crates!  Add shredded card stock filler as needed...

  1. Sticky notes for a gift as seen here.
  2. 3" x 3" cards and coordinating envelopes.
  3. Packaged candy.
  4. Small apple and shredded paper filler at each place setting for fall.
  5. Two hard boiled eggs (still in shell) at each setting for a breakfast or lunch.
  6. Salt and Pepper shakers for your table at an outdoor lunch or picnic.
  7. Small gift soaps in a cello bag.
  8. Small bath bombs in a cello bag.
  9. Cookies in a cello bag for party favors.
  10. Small cut pieces of card stock with favorite recipes for the bride to be.
  11. To hold wedding favors at each guest table at an outdoor or country themed wedding.
  12. So many possibilities!  Add your ideas in the comment section below!

Let's take a look at the easy assembly of these wood crates in the video below.

Below is the supply list for these wood note crates.  Simply click the links to shop in my online store.  I really appreciate your consideration in shopping with me! :)

Lisa's Inklings:

  • You'll need two pieces of  the 6" x 6" Wood Textures Designer Paper to make one crate.
  • Want a sturdier crate to hold something with a little more weight?  Use our Stampin' Up! cardstock.
  • Use scrap pieces of the designer paper and Crumb Cake for the stamped and punched elements.
  • In the video, I used SNAIL for the adhesive but I have had better results using Fast Fuse.

Wood-crate-notes-2Be sure to add your ideas for contents in these crates in the comment section below.  I'll be back tomorrow with a way to dress up those sticky notes in these new wood crates from Stampin' Up!

Tuesday Tip- Making Envelopes for Handmade Cards

IMG_5103.jpgHappy Tuesday, everyone, and welcome to this week's tip on making envelopes for your handmade cards.  If you have used the envelope punch board extensively, you are more than likely familiar with this information.  But, if you are new to envelope making and do not have an Envelope Punch Board, this may be helpful for you.

I created this envelope for this graduation card.  Take a look at the video to see how I determined the size envelope to make.

The Envelope Punch Board is a nifty tool for not only envelopes but also boxes and treat wraps...

The possibilities are numerous!  It's a tool that you will find helpful for many projects!

Cute Baby Shower Favors

Baby-shower-favor-sideLast month, we celebrated our daughter, who is a mommy-to-be, at a baby shower and this is a close up shot of the favors that I made.

I found the little verse and idea on Pinterest and made "a bunch" of these just as I had for our youngest daughter's baby shower

Here's a little video with the simple how-to:

Simple idea and a sweet thought...don't you think?  Sorry to say that the Love Notes Framelits Dies are no longer available, but you can die cut tiny hearts or flowers to embellish the top.  And, those designer paper stacks?  Sold out, too, but you can choose any designer paper in your choice of colors.

Here are the direct links for the boxes and the Decorative Label Punch... which is also retiring!

This one is called "Placed You'll Go" and the sentiments are not the traditional "Happy Graduation" or "Congratulations" but convey the same wishes with fun and adventurous sentiments.

Let's take a look at the video tutorial that inspired today's card.
