Christmas Eve Gift!

There's a Christmas Eve tradition in our family that we acquired from my husband's side that has become such a fun part of our day each year!  With anticipation, we wait out each other's visit or call to see who will be the first to deliver the greeting, "Christmas Eve Gift!"

The tradition is to say “Christmas Eve Gift” to someone before they say it to you. This is done all in the hope of receiving a gift from the person who is able to say it first!

It can turn into a game of tag that leads to some people not answering the phone all day or waiting out "the call". Although this may sound a bit odd, our family has loads of fun with it year after year. It seems most prevalent in the Southern United States. No one is quite sure of the origins of the tradition and there are several versions of how it all began.

So, if you happen to call me today and someone answers the phone with the greeting, "Christmas Eve Gift!", you'll understand why!

Knowing that you called or visited this blog is a special gift in itself.

Enjoy your day!

Oh, and..."Christmas Eve Gift!"
