Let's Make An Easy and Pretty Thank You Card

Easy-thank-you-cardToday's makeover thank you card is an easy and pretty style borrowed from a Stampin' Up! video tutorial from the past.

The creation that was the inspiration for this thank you card is actually a Christmas card!  Just goes to show that you can take any idea and customize it to fit your need.  Just change the color scheme and stamps and you are ready to go.

The Daffodil Delight (yellow) card base has a little added technique that's easy to do.  I used the sunflower stamps from the Painted Harvest stamp set and used *tone on tone, second generation stamping to create a subtle background.

*tone on tone- stamping with same color ink as your cardstock

*second generation stamping - Ink your stamp, stamp off (stamp on scratch paper first), then stamp on cardstock

Let's take a look at the video tutorial that inspired today's thank you card.

Tuesday Tip: Using Acetate Overlays in Cardmaking

Cutting CardstockFor the Inside of Your Cards-2This week's tip is the response to a couple of inquiries from my Facebook group regarding using acetate overlays in paper crafting and cardmaking.

Now, if my memory serves me correctly, these inquiries were pre-Harvey so it's taken me a while to get around to it but it's always been on my to-do list.

The overlays that you'll see in today's video are from two Memories and More collections that I will be sure to list below.

Let's take a look at the video then we'll talk a little more about it...

Click Here to see this tip video on using acetate overlays in card making on You Tube.

The little snowman on the first card is colored with the soon to be available Stampin' Blends!

Here's the finished "hello" card below...

Want To Make A Halloween Card?

Stampin-up-halloween-card-2017-aIf you want to make a fun Halloween card to send, try this version that's featured for today's Makeover Monday.

I have a friend whose birthday is on Halloween and I usually send her greetings in grand Halloween style!

I believe that I have mentioned a couple of times {wink} that the Spooky Cat stamp set (and, bundle with the cat punch)  and Spooky Night Designer Series Paper has been my favorite suite for crafting my Halloween treats and projects this year.  It's just so darn cute and this little owl is no exception!  Look how cute it is perched on the branch on the brilliantly coordinated designer paper print!

The inspiration for this card is from one of my designs from last year.  Take a look then read on for details on today's card.

Click Here this Halloween card video tutorial on You Tube.

Lisa's Inklings:

  • The moon designer paper print piece is cut to 3" x 3" and mounted on a piece of Basic Black cardstock that is 4" wide by 3" tall.
  • The card base is cut from Pumpkin Pie at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".
  • Back layer of designer paper is 4" x 5 1/4".
  • I cut 2 strips of striped designer paper at 1/2" x 4" to substitute for the washi tape in the original card.
  • Lace trim with a loopy bow is substituted for the twine in the original.

Coming Soon...Stampin' Blends!

Stampin-blends-1Coming soon from Stampin' Up! are Stampin' Blends, our new alcohol based markers!  Demonstrators are able to pre-order from October 1-15 and I just received mine via UPS a couple of days ago.  Let me tell you that these are so much fun for coloring.

The Stampin' Blends are much like our alcohol based Blendabilities from several years ago.  But, the Blendabilities had a design flaw which caused the ink to evaporate and the markers to dry out quickly.  Stampin' Up! had to take them off the market.  Since then, the company has been working, testing, and re-testing new alcohol markers and Stampin' Blends have been developed!

Although we do not know the exact date of release to customers but are thinking it may be before Christmas!   The Stampin' Blends are only available to demonstrators now until Sunday, October 15, 2017.  If you become a demonstrator by the 15th, you can choose the Stampin' Blends for your Starter Kit since it is a completely customizable kit and you can choose $125 worth of product for $99!

Stampin-blends-2Stay tuned for more on Stampin' Blends once the release date is announced and I'll be sure to share all the information with you
