Make A Blessing Box with To Every Season

Blessing-box-to-every-season

Yesterday's Facebook Live featured this Blessing Box and some sweet little handmade cards.

The idea is to bless others by leaving a little card in unexpected places with an inspiring message.  Usually, I will carry mini Valentines to share on Valentine's Day but this year will be sharing during the fall preceding Thanksgiving.  I know in my heart that those who find the cards are meant to have them.  Another idea is to share with those who provide a service for you.  (Mail Carrier, clerk at the bank, cashier at the market...you get the idea.)

Here is a photo of how the box opens...

Blessing-box-open

Here's a peek at the little cards.  I made three of each.

Blessing-Box-CardsIt's a simple project and I encourage you to do something similar!

Here's the recording of the Facebook Live video...

Lisa's Inklings:

  • For the box... Card stock is cut to 6-1/4 x 11.  Score on the 11" side at 1-1/2, 4-3/4, 6-1/4, 9-1/2.  Turn and score on the 6-1/4" side at 1-1/2 and 4-3/4.
  • Designer Paper for top of box is cut to 3" x 3".
  • For the cards...cut card stock to 3" x 6" and score in half at 3".
  • Designer paper is cut to 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" for cards with a piece of Whisper White for the inside cut the same.

Here are the supplies used for the Blessing Box project:

Stars Stamper Spotlight: Catherine Stewart

Catherine-painted-harvestToday's Stars Stamper Spotlight features a long time team member, Catherine Stewart.

Catherine is super talented as evident from this work above.  She has a beautiful eye for design and her cards have lots of texture.

The color scheme here is Night of Navy, Old Olive and copper.  The stamp set is a favorite from the annual catalog, Painted Harvest, along with the must-have Leaf Punch.

Here are the details:

  • Card base is Night of Navy cut at 5-1/2 x 8-1/2.
  • Whisper White cardstock is cut  4 x 5-1/4 and dry embossed with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder.
  • Notice how this white layer is torn and overlapped to add a beautiful touch of texture.
  • Four sets of leaves were stamped in Mossy Meadow ink on Old Olive cardstock, then punched.
  • Four sets of leaves were stamped in Versamark ink and embossed in copper then punched.
  • Flowers:  Ink up base flower in Night of Navy, stamp off on scrap paper then stamp on Whisper White. Ink accent flower stamp in Night of Navy then stamp full strength over previous flower.
  • Stamp flower centers in Versamark then copper emboss.
  • Fussy cut flowers with Paper Snips.
  • Stamp sentiment in Versamark on a strip of Whisper White about 3-1/2 x 1-1/4" and embossed in copper. Banner cut the end as shown.
  • The Old Olive piece that backs the sentiment is cut 3-1/2" x 1-1/2".
  • Adhere sentiment on top of this Old Olive piece.
  • Glue and layer the flowers as desired.
  • Apply glue to the center of flowers only.
  • Tuck and glue sentiment piece as shown.
