Easy DIY Gift Idea with Stampin' Up! Flowering Cactus

It's Tuesday and today we have an easy DIY project with the Stampin' Up! Flowering Cactus Product Medley.

I am always on the lookout for tea towels or dish towels that coordinate well with our stamp sets and designer papers.  The cactus-themed towel used in today's project is from Dollar Tree!  Here's one from last year with an Easter theme.

The color scheme in the Flowering Cactus Product Medley is different from the bright colors on this towel.  As you'll see in the video, it was easy to coordinate other Stampin' Up! Colors to match the towel.  Watch the video to see the process of this easy DIY gift with Stampin' Up! Flowering Cactus!

Lisa's Inklings:

  • Cut coordinating cardstock layer to 2" x 5".
  • Cut designer paper to match at 1-3/4 x 4-3/4.
  • You will need a piece of Basic White approximately 4" x 5" to stamp and cut your image.
  • For the sentiment, a 3/4" strip of Basic White was used and cut to fit.

Make A Hey Chick Birthday Card

Stampin’ Up! Hey Chick Birthday Card
Our Monday project is this adorable birthday card with the Stampin’ Up! Hey Birthday Chick Bundle. The Snail Mail Designer Series Paper [154577] makes for a festive background and provides a great color scheme.

Notice the repetitive stamping for the sentiment. This is an alternative method to adding the sentiment as an element on it own. The “let’s celebrate you” is stamped tone on tone in Bermuda Bay.  ( The tone on tone technique is stamping with the ink the same color the card stock.

Here’s the how-to...

Here’s hoping you’ve been inspired by this Hey Birthday Chick card idea and will create a fun card to share with a friend.

Make A St. Patrick's Day Treat Box

St-patricks-day-treat-1With St. Patrick's Day coming up, it's a good time for an idea for this fun little treat box.

This is a simple one and a good size for some fun candy treats or even a gift card!  Going through my supplies, I found some stamp sets and dies that would be just right to wish someone "top of the day" on the 17th.

There are many shades of green in this Stampin' Up! color realm but this spruce matched my treats, Andes Mints, so that was the deciding factor.

Here's the how-to video so that you can put one of these together quickly.

Lisa's Inklings:

St-patricks-day-treat-3I think this version with the sentiment from the game on stamp set is just right for my better-half! Those hearts from the kanga dies make a cute shamrock, don't you think?

St. Patrick's Day was always a fun day for me growing up.  I was eager to attend my school that day to see all the wearing of the green.  Making these little treat boxes and decorations each year brings some of those fun memories to mind.

Here's a look back at some of the fun projects for St. Patrick's Day... a Leprechaun Hat Treat Holder and a St. Patrick's Day Banner.

Below are the supplies used for the two St. Patrick's Day treat boxes seen in today's video.  If you are needing any card-making or paper crafting supplies, I would be honored to serve you!

Hope you have been inspired to try this paper crafting project so now that you've seen the video, give it a try! Have some fun on St. Patrick's Day with these treat boxes that you can create yourself and until next time, let your light shine!

Two Handmade Cards with Stampin' Up! Circle -Facebook Live Recording

Today's projects are two handmade cards with Stampin' Up! Circle Celebration.  We made these cards on Craft & Chat Live on Facebook yesterday afternoon.

The circle elements on these stamp sets have a wide variety of patterns but for some reason, I was obsessed with this vine image that you will see on these two cards!  (Be sure that you are on my mailing list so you can see another card made with more of these circle's my favorite that I've made so far with this set!)

And, now...on with the show!

Lisa's Inklings for these two handmade cards with Stampin' Up! Circle Celebration-

Card 1:

Paper-quilt-on-a-handmade-card-with-circle-celebrationCard 2:

I like to call this the "quilt" card.

The faux stitching created by the dies on both of these really adds a special touch, don't you think?

Easy-handmade-card-circle-celebrationTip: To prevent the classic ink from bleeding on the elements seen in the photo above, clear emboss the image and sentiment immediately after stamping in the classic ink.

The Forever Greenery DSP is so very pretty.  It will probably be "retiring" soon.  Here's another favorite project of mine featuring this paper.

Handmade Stampin' Up! Birthday Card for a Friend with a Beach Theme

Today's project is a handmade birthday card for a friend with a beach theme. Featured is the  Stampin' Up! Friends Are Like Seashells Photopolymer Stamp Set [154368]from the Stampin' Up! Mini Catalog, January-June 2021.

This card was made by my creative assistant and Stars Team Member, Catherine.  The subtle colors she used are a wonderful combo for this card, don't you agree?  These seashells look just beautiful in bolder colors, too!

Here is the step-by-step how-to so you can re-create this card for a friend.

  1. Cut your Pool Party 8-1/2" X 11" Cardstock [122924] at 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”. Score at 4 1/4”.
  2. Cut your Sahara Sand 8-1/2" X 11" Cardstock [121043] at 4 1/8” x just a tad over 5 1/4”. Take your Paper Snips [103579] and run the blade down the sides to roughen them up.  Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue [110755] to adhere to the card base.
  3. Cut a piece of Basic White 8 1/2" X 11" Cardstock [159276] at 3 7/8” x 5 1/4”.
  4. Stamp your images where you want, but stamp off first before you stamp each one. Run your Paper Snips [103579] down the side to give it the rough look.
  5. Take your ribbon from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack [152475] and use Mini Glue Dots [103683] to gather a few times and let the rest go straight and flat. Add glue to hold down.
  6. Cut one of the ovals from the Stitched Shapes Dies [145372], then stamp the shell on it lightly and sponge ink the edges with Sahara Sand.
  7.  Stamp your sentiment in Sahara Sand ink on a 1/2" strip of Basic White 8 1/2" X 11" Cardstock [159276] and cut it in half so that it will fit on the die-cut oval from the stitched dies. Add Stampin' Dimensionals [104430] to the back then adhere to the card front.
  8. Take your Pearl Basic Jewels [144219] and adhere to the oval shape.

The Friends Are Like Seashells Photopolymer Stamp Set [154368] stamp set is one for your collection for beach and seashell fans that you know. Who do you know that visits the seashore or dreams of it?  I just bet you know someone who would love a handmade card with a beach theme such as this one or maybe that someone is YOU and this set fits your personality perfectly!

Thank You!

I truly appreciate paper crafters like you stopping by to see the latest project share here on the blog and hope you are inspired to create. Thank you for your support!

Friend-are-like-seashells-stampin-up-beachAbove is another beautiful handmade card idea from a Stampin' Up! concept artist.  This one incorporates the Friends Are Like Seashells Bundle [156205] which includes the coordinating dies.

Now that you've read this post and have all the details to create this handmade birthday card with a beach theme, purchase the Friends Are Like Seashells Photopolymer Stamp Set [154368] and create one to share with someone special!

Two Card Ideas with the Stampin' Up! Butterfly Brilliance Bundle

On Wednesday's Facebook Live, the beautiful new Butterfly Brilliance Bundle was the star of the show! This stamp and die collection combo is an early release from the new Stampin' Up! catalog that will go LIVE in May.  Some of us like to call that catalog the "big" catalog!

I am really enjoying creating with these butterflies.  When you watch the recording of the video below, you will hear that when I see a butterfly cross my path, I feel it's my mom telling me "hello".  And, don't you think that sending cards with butterflies is a lovely gesture of hope?   There are quite a few on my list that could use such a card, how about you?

stampin up butterfly brilliance card ideaWe will call this card, the "Calypso Coral" card.  The Love You Always Foil Sheets [154286] butterflies are such a pretty touch!

stampin up butterfly brilliance card ideaHere is our "Magenta Madness" card!  It's bright and beautiful but quite a bit different than my usual color choices.  This just proves that I should step out of my "color-comfort" box more. :)

Ready to take a look at the video?  Grab a drink (and, maybe even some popcorn!). Hope you enjoy!
