Card Making Tip: Futurecasting and Card Making

FuturecastinYou are probably wondering about this tip regarding futurecasting and card making

By futurecasting, I am referring to planning ahead for some event or special occasion in the future.  There may be certain supplies or stamp sets that are will be just what you need that is available now but may not be available at the time of the occasion or event.

It will be more clear once you see the video below.

That particular set that was shown in the video has been retired for a while.  I am so glad that I made that investment...I've used it on several occasions! And, this isn't the only set or supply that I've purchased because I felt that I would want/need it at some point.

Here are some other examples of futurecasting for cardmaking:

With the Stampin' Up! Last Chance Promotion going on now, it's a good time for you to check those items and futurecast for your cardmaking or scrapbooking!

The Rooted In Nature Cling Stamp Set (English) [148217] and coordinating Nature's Roots Dies [146341] have been two of my favorite go-to supplies when making cards for the guys in our family.  This card has a twin and will be delivered to two family members in May.

Don't you love that beautiful oak tree?  Be sure to check out this simple inking technique with the Stamparatus to get that pretty ombré effect.

Ready to see the process?  Let's go!

Lisa's Inklings:

The Stamparatus is a great tool for so many techniques. Be sure you watch this one for the inking technique used on this masculine birthday card!

Fun Fold Thank You Card

Fun-fold-card-of-gratitude

Our project for this Friday is a fun fold thank you card that is a remake of this card with a different color scheme and different products.   This card features the fabulous Beautiful World Bundle (English) [154091] and coordinating World Of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper [152491] and Brass Foil Sheets [153057].

This cardmaker (me!) has a soft spot for products and supplies that feature maps, globes, compasses, and the like.  You can bet, this will be one of my go-to sets for graduations, bon voyage, masculine, and many other types of cards.  What about scrapbooking your travels or journeys with this theme?

Here's the inside of the card with those thin strips of Mossy Meadow that add just the right touch.

Card Making Video - Make A Fun Fold Card with Dragonfly Garden

Stampin-up-fun-fold-dragonfly-garden-bundleToday's project and video tutorial is the how-to for making a fun fold card using the Dragonfly Garden Bundle (English) [156224] from Stampin' Up!

This has been a very popular stamp set and the coordinating paper is wonderful but at the time of this writing, is in very low inventory status.  So, if you love it, check now (Dandy Garden 6" X 6" Designer Series Paper [154297]) to see if it's still available!

This particular card design was my "mystery stamping event" for our April Stars Team virtual gathering.  Since our team is scattered across the country, we love gathering virtually on Zoom to stamp together.  You are getting to see the finished project first but the Stars had no idea what the finished card would look like.  All that was presented to them prior to the "gathering" was the recipe with cutting and scoring directions. Everyone used their own supplies. Two shared photos of their projects. Take a look at Kristen's and Carol's cards!

May be an image of strawberry and text that says 'hello THERE'

May be an image of text that says 'HELLO'

Now that you've seen these samples, you must be anxious to make your own!  Here is the video!

Lisa's Inklings:
1.Bumblebee 8-1/2X11 Cardstock [153077]: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2, 2-3/4 x 6 (scored at 5-1/4)
2.Basic White 8 1/2" X 11" Cardstock [159276]: 4 x 5-1/4 , scrap for die cut
3.Dandy Garden 6" X 6" Designer Series Paper [154297]: 2-1/2 x 6 (scored at 5-1/4) and punched dragonfly.

Here's the inside of the card.  The message can be written behind the card front strip so as not to be visible when the card is opened.

Fun-fold-card-dragonfly-gardenWhat most of us like about fun fold cards like this one with Dragonfly Garden is the added interest and uniqueness.  It's a great alternative to a regular book-fold or tent-fold card.

Here are all of the supplies used on today's project.

Handmade Thank You Gift Tags

Thank-you-gift-tag

Let's start off Monday with a handmade "Thank You Gift Tag"!  These tags were made to attach to little gifts to those who placed a qualifying order with me or through my Stampin' Up! Online Store in March 2021.

Featured here are two of my favorites from the Stampin' Up! Last Chance list... the So Sentimental Cling Stamp Set (English) [151691] and Forever Greenery DSP.  This stamp set was designed specifically to "fit" the Stitched So Sweetly Dies [151690] which are not retiring (thank goodness!) and will be carried over into the new Stampin' Up! Catalog.

Here are the dies with the set (So Sentimental Bundle (English) [153828]) so you can see how well these coordinate...

To create the cut flagged end of the thank you gift tag, the Banner Triple Punch [138292] was used.  This item is retiring soon and is currently offered at a great discount!  You can easily make banner pieces in three widths: 1", 1-1/2", and 2".

If you'd like to see two more projects made with this stamp set, be sure to take a look at this card and this gift bag!

Here's a stack of these gifts with the handmade thank you gift tags!

Gift-tags-thank-youThese tags can easily be removed and used as a tag on a card front.  How about that...two gifts in one!

If you enjoyed this post, be sure to...

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you've been inspired by this handmade thank you gift tag and will create some to use on gifts or cards!
