Why I Joined Stampin' Up!

Why-i-joined

It was about 16 years ago when I attended my first Stampin' Up! event party.  I have to admit that I was reluctant to go.  I was an avid scrapbooker and had everything I needed.  There wasn't a need for rubber stamps in my stash.
All that changed with the first time I put ink to stamp to paper.  Magic! And, I found that I could express my creativity with a beautiful hand-stamped card that took a few minutes vs. a scrapbooking layout that might take me hours.  Don't get me wrong, I still love to do memory keeping but it is so much easier with the coordination of products in the Stampin' Up! line and yes, rubber stamps are awesome to use, too.
I placed an order that night...I was hooked!
I attended another workshop about a month later and the demonstrator informed us about a Starter Kit special.  I wondered...what the heck was a Starter Kit? She informed me that it was the kit that could be purchased to join the Stampin' Up! family. I could get a lot of product for less plus get discounts on the product any time that I ordered with no obligation to hold workshops or sell.  Sounded good to me because my wish list was LONG!
I was so excited to receive my kit and began making all of my cards and have not purchased a greeting card since!  Then, one day, my team leader (the demonstrator that I signed under) asked me to do a party for a mutual friend to help her out.  I was so reluctant and nervous!  But, I did it and loved it! I had been teaching in public education for 25 years and that was exactly what I was doing with those Stampin' Up! products...teaching and loving it!
While I had joined for the discount, I discovered that I loved sharing it with others, too! Who knew that 15+ years later, I would still be loving and sharing it!
All this is to say that anyone can be part of Stampin' Up! ...Whether for the discount, to be part of an awesome community, to make a little extra money, or to have a small business, there is a fit for you!  And, if you'd like to remain a customer, that's fine, too!

If you purchase your Starter Kit through me, you will be included in fun online activities with other demonstrators on the Ink and Inspirations Stars team in the U.S.

  • Access our private Facebook Group exclusively for members of the Ink and Inspirations Stars with news, updates, and sharing of ideas.

Make A Card with Catching Butterflies

Catching-butterflies-sweet-thoughts-3As we count down the 8 days to the end of Sale-A-Bration, let's make a card with the adorable Catching Butterflies Cling Stamp Set (English) [158108]!  I love the color combo of this green, Granny Apple Green, and blue, Bermuda Bay.

This is another easy card layout, much like the one seen here, that will work for you time after time.  The width of the Basic White Cardstock [159276] is determined by the width of the main image and your sentiment.  Two inches was just right in this case.

Simple Cardmaking Layout

Simple-cardmaking-layout

Today's project is a simple cardmaking layout with the Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration stamp set, Driving By.  When you have a lot of cards to make of the same design, a simple layout is always the way to go.  This one uses just a small piece of designer paper but really makes a statement to set off the stamped and colored image.

The textured background layer anchors it all to the card base.   Using a dry embossed piece such as this one turns a smooth card stock layer into a dramatic piece.  The Tasteful Textile 3 D Embossing Folder [152718] is a good basic one to have since it fits with just about any card style.

Paper Piecing Card Making Technique

Paper-piecing-card-making-technique-stampin-upOn this week's YouTube Premiere, we made this card using the super fun and super easy paper piecing technique!

It's a shame that I don't use this cardmaking technique more often.  It really adds a simple wow factor to cards.  The stamp set featured is the Driving By Cling Stamp Set (English) [158099] that you can earn for FREE with your $50 qualifying Stampin' Up! purchase from my Online Store. And, you've seen me use this bright and cheery paper before! The Sunshine & Rainbows 6" X 6"  Designer Series Paper [158126] is also a Sale-A-Bration choice that you can earn for FREE.

Here's the recording of the premiere featuring this card and one other with a simple and basic layout.

Paper Piecing Card Making Technique

Lisa's Inklings:

  • When choosing a stamp for this technique, look for one with larger areas to make your "fussy cutting" easier.
  • Before stamping for your paper piecing, scan your designer paper to find the best "scene" for your project.  As you can see on this card, even a partial rainbow looks good.
  • Reminder: You will stamp the image twice.  Once on Basic White and once on the patterned paper.

Paper-piecing-card-making-techniqueThat Sunshine & Rainbows 6" X 6" Designer Series Paper [158126] is awesome!  The colors are cheerful and the designs are diverse and fun! How can you get it for FREE?  Purchase $50 in product before tax and shipping in Stampin' Up! product by the end of the month, February 28, 2022.  Then you can choose this as your FREEBIE.  There is no limit to the amount of FREE Sale-A-Bration items that you can earn.  There are Level 1 items (Free with $50) and Level 2 items (Free with $100).
