Wicked Fun! A Birthday Banner with Mia

Wicked-banner

There’s something so special about crafting with little ones...especially when they take the lead! Today, I’m sharing a special project that brings me so much joy: a birthday banner created by our granddaughter Mia, who is celebrating her birthday this week!

Mia is currently obsessed with WICKED, so when it came time to decorate for her birthday celebration, she knew exactly what she wanted and she designed this banner herself! From the sparkly circles to the themed sticker images to the color choices, this was her creation, and I simply helped with the materials, cutting, and guidance.  And, we filmed a little video of Mia assembling the banner so you can see her creativity in action.

Crafting with children (and grandchildren!) is such a pleasure. It’s a break from outdoor play (and, the summer heat), a chance to slow down, and a wonderful way to connect. Watching Mia take ownership of her project reminded me how powerful creativity can be for kids. It builds confidence, celebrates individuality, and turns these moments into special memories.

This simple banner was made with cardstock, alphabet dies, ribbon, and lots of sparkly glimmer paper.  Whether you’re making decorations, birthday cards, or memory pages, summer is the perfect time to invite your littles into the craft room.

Because in the end, it’s not just about what we create...it’s who we’re creating with.

Watch the video below to see Mia’s banner come to life!
