Double Angled Pocket Fun Fold Video Tutorial

Blank 2000 x 2000 (1)This week's Premiere project from my YouTube channel is a double angled pocket fun fold video tutorial with some beautiful designer paper.  I have been waiting for what seems like "forever" to get my hands on some of this Expressions In Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper [155464].  Now that it's available, I added it to my stash (a little) to have on hand for some special projects.

This card project is another fun fold that really highlights beautiful patterned paper.  These two will be birthday cards for family and friends and hope to make one with more of a masculine feel soon.

Double-angled-pocket-cardHere is the recording of the Premiere.  If you missed this event on YouTube, set a reminder to check in to my channel every Thursday evening at 7 PM ET, 6 PM CT, 5 PM MT, and 4 PM PT.

Color Trend in Cardmaking

Premiere-neutrals-spot-of-color.youtube-thumbnail

Today we are taking a look at a cardmaking color trend that's floating around the world of paper crafting; using neutrals with a spot of color.

Notice that I didn't use the term "pop of color"?  With this trend, I've noticed subdued colors rather than bright or bold colors.  In Stampin' Up! terms, these would include colors from our Subtles or Neutrals Color Collections.  I've enjoyed challenging myself to follow this trend and hope you will be inspired to do so after seeing this video and these samples.

Color-trend-spot-1

This video was a Premiere video on YouTube which is a series that I hope you will watch every Thursday evening at 6 PM Central.  These videos will vary in length from a few minutes to an hour and will remain on YouTube if you aren't able to join us for the Premiere.  However, if you are able to join at the Premiere time, you can participate in the LIVE chat if you are signed in to your Google or Gmail account.

If you missed it on YouTube, here's the video!

The images in this set have so much versatility and don't you love the "Have A Beautiful Day" as a birthday greeting?  Here's another card made with Very Versailles that I think you'll enjoy.

Here's the step-by-step how-to followed by the supplies used for this birthday card with Stampin' Up! Very Versailles.

Measurements:
Card Base: Pear Pizzazz Cardstock 11” x 4-1/4”. Score and fold at 5-1/2”
Cardstock #2: Basic White Cardstock 5-1/4” x 4”
Designer Paper: In Good Taste Designer Paper 5” x 3-3/4”
Cardstock #3: Basic White Cardstock 3-1/4” x 3-1/4”
Designer Paper: In Good Taste Designer Paper 3” x 3”

Instructions:
-Glue Basic White Cardstock to Pear Pizzazz Card Base.
-Glue the In Good Taste Designer Paper to card front.
-Using the smallest piece of designer paper, stamp the leaf image to the left and bottom using Pear Pizzazz Ink. -Stamp the script image to fill in the background around the leaves using Early Espresso Ink. Glue to the smallest -Basic White Cardstock layer. Punch a hole in both corners at the top with the handheld punch. Set aside.
-Stamp the medallion image on a scrap piece of Seaside Spray Cardstock using Early Espresso Ink. Cut the shape with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Glue to the center of the stamped layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
-Stamp the sentiment on a scrap piece of Basic White Cardstock. Cut with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Glue to the center of the medallion layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
-Tie Linen thread at the top of the stamped layer through the holes to create a hanging sign. It’s easiest if you tie the left side into a bow and tie the right side into a knot. Add the two ribbons by tying into knots on the right through the Linen Thread. Trim the ends into angles.
-Glue sign layer to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
-Add a Gold Glitter Enamel Dot to hang the sign by the Linen Thread by adding two layers of Mini Glue Dots under the enamel dot so it is elevated.

For Whom Would You Make This Birthday Card?

Hey-birthday-chick-birthday-card-spring-chickenLooking at today's project feature, I would be willing to bet that you had a close friend in mind that you would love to make and send this card for her birthday!

Wouldn't it bring a smile to her face?  I know that I have several friends and family members who would love to be called a "spring chicken".

This adorable bundle is great for making some really fun cards.  Honestly, as a cardmaker, I rarely lean toward this type of "cutesy" stamp set but this one stole my heart and my guess is that you will love it, too!

Here is the step by step how-to:

  1. Cut the Basic White 8 1/2" X 11" Cardstock [159276] card base at 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” score at 4 1/4”.
  2. Cut the back layer of 2020–2022 In Color 6" X 6"  Designer Series Paper [153070] at 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” glue to the base front.
  3. Cut your second piece of 2020–2022 In Color 6" X 6" Designer Series Paper [153070] at 3 1/4”x 5 1/2” glue to the center of the designer paper on the card front.
  4. Cut another piece of Basic White 8 1/2" X 11" Cardstock [159276] at 3” x 5 1/2”.
  5. Next comes the stamping.  Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad [132708] for the images and the sentiments.
  6. Stamp your happy birthday sentiment at the top and the "spring chicken" sentiment toward the bottom as shown.
  7.  Stamp the chicken between the sentiments and color.
  8. Stamp an extra ballon, die-cut, color, and pop up with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals [144108] over the other balloon.
  9. Color your chicken.
  10. Now glue the Basic White stamped piece to the center of the card.
  11. Stamp the little chick that is hatching, color, and die-cut, and pop up on the corner of the "spring chicken" sentiment.

Here's another birthday card idea with this darling bundle!

Make A Hey Chick Birthday Card

Stampin’ Up! Hey Chick Birthday Card
Our Monday project is this adorable birthday card with the Stampin’ Up! Hey Birthday Chick Bundle. The Snail Mail Designer Series Paper [154577] makes for a festive background and provides a great color scheme.

Notice the repetitive stamping for the sentiment. This is an alternative method to adding the sentiment as an element on it own. The “let’s celebrate you” is stamped tone on tone in Bermuda Bay.  ( The tone on tone technique is stamping with the ink the same color the card stock.

Here’s the how-to...

Here’s hoping you’ve been inspired by this Hey Birthday Chick card idea and will create a fun card to share with a friend.

Lyla's Birthday

Lyla-is-5Our Lyla's 5th  birthday was a couple of weeks ago.  While we were not there for her birthday party for friends, we were able to celebrate with her last week.  Today I am sharing her birthday banner and card that carried out the theme of her party, Frozen 2.

IMG_4702For her birthday banner, the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper [153512] and Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper [153513] along with the Snowflake Wishes Bundle (English) [155172] were used.  As a backing for the letters cut from retired Stampin' Up! letter dies us a Whisper White Cardstock [100730] cut from the Tasteful Labels Dies [152886]. Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems [153547] gems add a bit of sparkle and the bottom corners were punched with the Detailed Trio Punch [146320].

Lyla-is-fiveHere's the complete banner.  These banners are very easy to make and always make a nice addition to party decór.  Lyla's mom has her banner hung above the window seat/reading nook  in her room.

Snowflake-splendor-birthday-cardHere's a close-up of her birthday card made with the same supplies.  Again, the dies that cut the "5" are retired.  I have a set of letter and number dies that have come in handy so many times!

Birthday-card-snowflake-splendorHere's the complete front of the card.  See how the "5" looks dimensional? I die cut it with a piece of our Foam Adhesive Sheets [152815] adhered to the back. It's like having a full sized dimensional adhesive for any shape!

It's such a joy to create projects for our granddaughters on their birthdays. Like any handmade paper craft, a lot of love goes into these projects. Hope you have enjoyed seeing some of the creations for Lyla's birthday.

Here are all the details you will need to make this card...

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Witty-Cisms (151686)
Cardstock and Paper: Mango Melody (146989), Pretty Peacock (150880), Shimmery White 101910), Dinoroar Designer Series Paper (149589)
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento Pad (132708)
Coloring Tools: Stampin’ Blends Crumb Cake Light (144582), Poppy Parade Light (146878), Call Me Clover Light (147023), Mango Melody Dark (147944)
Miscellaneous: Layering Circles Dies (141705), Whisper White ¼” Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon (151326), Pearls Basic Jewels (144219), Paper Trimmer (152392), SNAIL Adhesive (104332), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Bone Folder (102300), Paper Snips (103579)

Measurements:
Mango Melody card base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4” then folded on the crease with the Bone Folder, 2-1/4” x 2-1/4”
Pretty Peacock: 3-3/4” x 5”, 3-1/2” x 1-1/4”, 2-1/2” x 2-1/2”
Designer Series Paper: 3-1/2” x 4-3/4”, 1” x 3-1/2”
Shimmery White: 2-1/4” x 2-1/4”
Ribbon: 5”, 8”

Instructions:

  • With SNAIL Adhesive, adhere larger Designer Series Paper (DSP) to Pretty Peacock layer then adhere horizontal DSP to Pretty Peacock layer.
  • Adhere horizontal piece atop larger DSP piece so horizontal piece is about 1-1/8” from bottom of larger piece.
  • Using the Mango Melody Dark Stampin’ Blends marker, color the two strips of ribbon by brushing the ribbon with the fatter point of the marker. Take care to color on top of a disposable surface as Blends will bleed through the ribbon. Dries instantly though.
  • Apply a little SNAIL on the horizontal DSP piece but only in the area that will, later, be covered with the round taco piece.
  • Add the 5” ribbon piece across center of horiztonal DSP and secure ends to back with SNAIL as well. Tie ribbon into bow, trim ends with Paper Snips, and set aside.
Stamp taco image with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Shimmery White cardstock. Color in taco with Crumb Cake, Poppy Parade, and Call Me Clover Stampin’ Blends. Die cut with 1-7/8”circle. Die cut Mango Melody scalloped circle layer and Pretty Peacock circle layer. Attach all three to one another with SNAIL.
  • With Stampin’ Dimensionals, add taco piece to DSP piece so the taco piece ends about ¼” from the right side. Then attach that whole piece to card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Color three Pearl Basic Jewels with Mango Melody Dark Stampin’ Blends marker and affix to taco piece.
  • With one Mini Glue Dots, attach bow so one edge rests on the taco piece.
