Mardi Gras Cancelled?

Blank 2000 x 2000 copy copy copy copy

For all intents and purposes, Mardi Gras celebrations here in the South have been cancelled but tomorrow still is Mardi Gras aka Fat Tuesday which is the day before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent on the Christian calendar.

In the past, there have been some projects that I've created for decor and our celebrations.  The banner above hung on our front door for Mardi Gras season for years.  The wind and weather finally got the best of it!

Below is a Mardi Gras card from the past...

Here is a treat that is sometimes a "Throw" along with beads and toys at a Mardi Gras parade...Moon Pie!

And, while it may be freezing/icy outside, our carnival spirit is kicking it here in Southeast Texas!

mardi-gras-king-cakeI hope you are staying warm and doing well.  If we don't lose power, I hope to be back tomorrow with another project for you!  Until then, take care and shine on!---Lisa

Lyla's Birthday

Lyla-is-5Our Lyla's 5th  birthday was a couple of weeks ago.  While we were not there for her birthday party for friends, we were able to celebrate with her last week.  Today I am sharing her birthday banner and card that carried out the theme of her party, Frozen 2.

IMG_4702For her birthday banner, the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper [153512] and Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper [153513] along with the Snowflake Wishes Bundle (English) [155172] were used.  As a backing for the letters cut from retired Stampin' Up! letter dies us a Whisper White Cardstock [100730] cut from the Tasteful Labels Dies [152886]. Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems [153547] gems add a bit of sparkle and the bottom corners were punched with the Detailed Trio Punch [146320].

Lyla-is-fiveHere's the complete banner.  These banners are very easy to make and always make a nice addition to party decór.  Lyla's mom has her banner hung above the window seat/reading nook  in her room.

Snowflake-splendor-birthday-cardHere's a close-up of her birthday card made with the same supplies.  Again, the dies that cut the "5" are retired.  I have a set of letter and number dies that have come in handy so many times!

Birthday-card-snowflake-splendorHere's the complete front of the card.  See how the "5" looks dimensional? I die cut it with a piece of our Foam Adhesive Sheets [152815] adhered to the back. It's like having a full sized dimensional adhesive for any shape!

It's such a joy to create projects for our granddaughters on their birthdays. Like any handmade paper craft, a lot of love goes into these projects. Hope you have enjoyed seeing some of the creations for Lyla's birthday.

Stampin' Up! Christmas Countdown Kit with a Guest Presenter!

Kit-together-jackie-lisa-youtube-thumbnailToday was a "kit together" on Facebook with the 2020 Stampin' Up! Christmas Countdown presented by my hubs, Jackie, with me as his assistant!

It was a fun time and he did a fantastic job!  Here's the video for you to see!

See how easy that is!  What a great activity to do with your children or grandchildren, right?

Here are some ideas for fillers:

  • Little ornaments
  • Candy
  • Scripture verses
  • Fun activity ideas to do each day
  • A Christmas carol to sing each day
  • Prayer intentions

I am sure you can think of other ideas, too!

Here is the finished project of what Jackie decided to put on the reverse side.

It's time to get your kit!  It's right HERE in the online store.

Your countdown to Christmas will be extra special and it will be the work of your or your loved ones hands.

My Stampin' Up! Halloween Decor Through the Years

Each year, I enjoy making some fun Halloween decor for my crafting studio and home.

For 2020, the banner above was made with the Have A Hoot Bundle (English) [155208].

Stampin-up-decor-witch-hatThe Halloween decor hat above was a fun kit!  This one sits on a little table to greet visitors to my studio.

Stampin-up-spooky-bingo-bits-vertical-bannerThe vertical banner above was made with the Spooky Bingo Bits set from years ago.  Do you remember that Stampin' Up! set from 2012?

Stampin-up-halloween-spider-wreathThis fun wreath made from a kit is missing a few elements but I still enjoy displaying it with the sparkly web and beaded spider.

Framed-kit-stampin-up-halloween-decorHere's a another completed kit that was a favorite.  The sectioned frame is awesome and it sits on a vintage sewing machine along with other fun, spooky elements just inside the front door of the cabin.

IMG_4272 Stampin-up-halloween-decor-framed-kit-1

The black covering is just a piece of fabric that's folded and draped over top of the sewing machine to add to the Halloween ambiance.

Stampin-up-halloween-decor-digital-printThe framed piece above was created in our former digital program, My Digital Studio, circa 2013. I still love it and that frame is just perfect.

Here's another framed piece that was a panel in some Halloween themed designer paper one year in the past. A black frame from Wal-Mart was just the right fit.  The designer paper medallion was strategically hot glued to cover a phrase that was too ghoulish for my taste!

Stampin-up-halloween-decor-circle-bannerHere's another circle banner made with some stamped images, medallions, and fussy cut images from designer series paper.

Stampin-up-halloween-decor-spooky-bannerThe SPOOKY banner above is one of my favorites!  Love the color combo and those big die cut letters!

Do you create any home decor pieces with your paper crafting supplies?  I hope you enjoyed this look at some of my creations of Stampin' Up! Halloween Decor through the years!

2020 Stampin' Up! Halloween Projects Week 7

2020 Stampin' Up! Halloween Projects Week 7

This week's Halloween project is a decor piece that I like to share each year; a Halloween banner.   These are fun to make and and can range from eerie to fun.   This one is cute and fun using the Have A Hoot Bundle (English) [155208].

These banners have differed in length each year from three to seven "flag" pieces. Here's one made with circles and here's one that's more clean and simple.

Let's take a look at the banner for 2020 in today's video tutorial.

Lisa's Inklings:
Banner pieces are cut 3-3/4 x 5.
Mark the bottom  center of each piece at 1-7/8.
Make up on each side from the bottom at 1".
Cut from bottom center up to each 1" marking on the each side to form the banner shape.
Die cut five circles from Black Glitter Paper [153518].
Cut reinforcing strips at 1" x 3-3/4".

Stampin' Up! DIY Home Decor Wreath

Stampin' Up! DIY Home Decor Wreath from Lisa Brown, Ink and Inspirations

Today's DIY project is one that's been in my thoughts since the new Stampin' Up! annual catalog was in my hands.  It's always so much fun to think of how many different ways we can use our beautiful Stampin' Up! supplies.

With the hope of making this wreath light weight and to use in my studio or on the door, these metal gold hoops from Amazon were just right!
You will also need a hot glue gun.

Let's take a look at the simple how-to video tutorial.

Lisa's Inklings:

  • Any combination of color and these dies would be beautiful.
  • I recommend just using a little dab of hot glue for each piece.
  • If you plan to suspend this ring in the center of a space rather than against the wall, just add some die cut leafy stems and a sunflower to the back!

Beautiful World Fourth of July Home Decór and Project Giveaway

We will be "celebrating" the Fourth of July this weekend so here is a fun home decor paper crafting project for you to make!

Although Mr. Brown and I are not having visitors to the cabin this year, it's still important to us to have some decór out for the different seasons and celebrations.  We truly believe that we can find joy in each day and this is one little way to do that! And, these red, white, and blue decor items are good to go from Memorial Day in May to Labor Day in September!

This framed piece was the project for my Facebook Live this past Saturday.  Saturday morning lives have not been playing nicely (broadcast interruptions and freezing screens) so it's better for me to be prepared ahead of time with a pre-recorded video so that's what you will see here today.

Make An Ornate Garden Banner of Hope During This #StayHome Time

Here’s a special project for the Easter season (and, this stay-at-home season) made with products from the Ornate Garden Suite Collection (English) [154153] and some additional supplies from the current Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  I call this home decór piece, a Banner of Hope.
The Ornate Garden Suite is an early release suite from the Stampin' Up! Annual 2020-2021 that will debut in June of 2020.
This project was first seen on Ink and Inspirations with Lisa Brown for a Saturday morning Facebook Live. You can see the recording of that video here---> https://www.facebook.com/inkandinspirations/videos/231370178239309/
Here are some details and the dimensions for cutting...
  • Banner pieces (Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper [152488]) are cut 4” x 6”. Measure to 2” across the bottom then 2” up on both sides. Connect each side 2” mark with the bottom 2” mark and draw a line connecting each. You will cut on both of these lines to make the bottom point of the banner.
  • Choose two different patterns of designer paper. Cut 3 strips of one pattern at 1” x 4”. Cut 3 strips of the other pattern at 1-1/2” x 4”.
  • You will need 3 pieces of 3-1/4” x 4-1/4” in Whisper White if you are going to cut the border edges. Otherwise, I would cut these at 2-3/4” x 4”.
  • The letters in the word “hope” were die cut with the Hand-Lettered Prose Dies [149550].
  • The cross was cut from Gold Foil Sheets [132622] from the Cross Of Hope Dies [145654].

This banner will hang from an iron pedestal on my front porch. My husband, Jackie, and I will be the only ones to enjoy it. Our hope is in the Risen Lord and his promise to be with us always.
God bless you and yours. Stay safe and stay well. ---Lisa

Let's Dress Up Your Thanksgiving Table

Thanksgiving-napkin-rings-and-placecardsYou can easily dress up your Thanksgiving table with supplies from you craft room.

In the photo above, you can see three examples of napkin rings.  The 2019 Gather Together Bundle and the Come To Gather Designer Series Paper are highlighted here.  Use any combination of leaves, sentiments, and images to make beautiful napkin rings.

If you do not have use for napkin rings, use these elements to create place cards such as the one in the upper right of the photo.

For the napkin rings, cut a piece of designer paper to 1" x 8".  Add elements using inks and card stocks to complement the designer paper.

For the place card, cut the designer paper 3" x 4".  Fold in half at 2".  Use a label punch with a light neutral card stock for a space to write the names of your guests.  Add leaves or stamped images in the upper left corner to make it fancy.  You can make these ahead of time and store them easily.

Memorial Day: Projects from the Past

Memorial Day is a holiday here in the U.S. where we honor and remember those who have lost their lives while serving our country as part of the United States Armed Forces.

***Proceeds from Stampin' Up! orders placed in my Online Store through Midnight, Tuesday, May 28th, will be donated to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.
Mission: To provide college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.

I thought it would be fitting to share some patriotic projects from the past today.  These aren't necessarily projects for Memorial Day but those that bear our nation's colors.

See the full card and video for the project below HERE.

Here's an idea for a simple USA banner. See the project video tutorial on this post.

If you've been following me long enough, you'll remember the Define Your Life stamp set used on this card HERE.

Love this easy and fun patriotic party favors.  The video tutorial can be seen HERE.

To all those who have lost loved ones in the line of service, my thoughts and prayers are with you this Memorial Day and we are grateful for their sacrifice.
