What I Am Missing Most

Screenshot_2020-07-20 Lisa Brown ( inkandinspirations) • Instagram photos and videosThroughout the months since this past March, what we've missed most are these three precious granddaughters.

Before you ask...yes, Jackie and I are still being very cautious since I have a heart condition and we now have my 90 year old dad here with us.  One of our daughters and her husband are both medical professionals.  She is a trauma/ER nurse and he, a nurse anesthetist, so they are both in the thick of it all, so to speak.  We are blessed and grateful for their service and their knowledge.  Our youngest daughter and her husband work in ministry; he a pastor of a church in north Texas. We look to all of them for guidance and we wait in hope.

I've talked to many of you who are also in this same situation.  How thankful we are for technology with FaceTime, video chat, and Zoom.  At least this youngest little sweetheart will recognize me when I get to hug and hold her again.

Screenshot_2020-07-20 Lisa Brown ( inkandinspirations) • Instagram photos and videos(1)Our two girls were able to get their families together this past weekend and look how sweet these cousins are playing together.  This makes my heart so happy!  Don't you just love candid shots like this?

Although we are not all together, these captured moments are priceless.  I see some memory keeping/scrapbooking pages forthcoming with these photos!

I am thankful to find joy in these moments that these our girls and their families share.   And, I know in my heart that the Lord is working on us and through us in all of this.  In Him is our hope.

I pray that your days may bring you joy and that hope fill your hearts.

May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!

Kids of all ages appreciate notes of encouragement and affirmation and this Stampin' Up! card idea made with the lovable Dino Days Bundle [151139].

Scrapbooking and Memory Keeping Ideas and Tips

Let's talk a little about scrapbooking and memory keeping.  In this post, you will hear and see a bit about how I go about preserving memories with photos and journaling.

This information was shared on my Facebook page, Ink and Inspirations with Lisa Brown, earlier this month on International Scrapbooking Day.   If you scrapbook or have ever thought about preserving your photos and memories, I hope you find this information helpful.

Scrapbooking-titles-tipTip: I find it easier to die cut my letters in Whisper White or Very Vanilla then sponge on the ink in the color I need/want depending on the layout.

These letter dies are retiring!  If you scrapbook, these are GREAT to have! Get yours here! ---> http://bit.ly/large-letters-stampin-up

Scrapbooking-traditional-page-friends

Here's the traditional layout that was created on the back of the Mount Rushmore page shown in the video above. Below is the stamp set that was used. It is "retiring", too.  It's a good one for travel pages.  Click the image below to see the En Route stamp set in the online store.

Below you can see how I cut my 4 x 6 photos in half to fit into two, 3 x 4 pockets.

Scrapbooking-tip-photos-2

Here's are two more tips regarding the next photo below:

  • Notice the upper right pocket. I added a 1-1/2” strip of Whisper White to the Memories and More Card. I’ll use this for my page title.
  • The photos have been cut down to 3 x 4.

Personal note: I realize that years from now these animal photos will not be “cherished” 🙂. But, my written memories will be. And, for now, we enjoy them. Plus, I figure that I’ll use these as a teaching tool for the grandchildren.

Scrapbooking-tip-animale

Using the Designer Paper that coordinates with the Happiness Blooms Memories and More Card Kit, I cut 4x6 or 3x4 pieces for fillers on pocket pages. Cut strips or use as layers for traditional pages.

Simple Tip for Scrapbooking Memory Keeping

Memoriesandmore12200BToday's post and video offers a very simple scrapbooking/memory keeping/journaling tip but first, a few questions for you...

  • Have you been scrapbooking/memory keeping for years? ...like "on and off" since childhood?
  • Do you feel like you are always "behind"?
  • Do you have stacks of photos that you need to preserve...like, put in an album?
  • Or, do you have pictures in an album with no journaling, names, or dates?
  • Do you have the desire or need to start memory keeping but don't know where to begin?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then you will want to keep reading.

This crafter (ME!) has been memory keeping since elementary school.  Not consistently, mind you, but enough to have recorded memories from the "good ole days!"  Once our girls got involved in so many activities in high school, the need to scrapbook presented itself in a big way.  But, I tried to get too elaborate with my pages and burnt out very quickly.

Then comes the collaboration of Stampin' Up! with Project Life.  Man, was this easier and took much less time! And, it was so much fun!  But, then, that partnership ended BUT Stampin' Up! introduced their own pocket memory keeping system, Memories and More!  Thank you, Stampin' Up!

If you answered "yes" to being "behind" question or you have a stack of photos tucked away in a drawer, don't let it stop you from pressing forward.  Start with ONE occasion, holiday, birthday, vacation, etc. and go from there.  And, if you're just wanting to get started, check out the Memories and More supplies HERE.

Oh, wait....you prefer, traditional scrapbooking?  No worries. I combine both traditional and pocket pages in my memory keeping.  Check out this recent page HERE.

Now, let's address the journaling/notes part of memory keeping.  (And, I refer to it as "memory keeping" because scrapbooking scares some folks away.)  The video below will give you a tip that has really helped me....especially when I delay in getting this part done!

Hope this scrapbooking/memory keeping tip is helpful to you so please let me know in the comments below!

Memory Keeping/Scrapbooking - Tips for 12 x12 Pages with 8 x10 Photos

Memory-keeping-memories-in-the-making-plxsu138454Today's memory keeping/scrapbooking project is a 12 x 12 page with an 8 x 10 photo used in combination with the Project Life by Stampin' Up! Card Collection, Moments Like These.  As you'll hear in the video, I am determined to preserve these (many) 8 x 10 photos of our girls in albums rather than have so many frames.  I know they'll appreciate having it all in one place as well.

Incorporating stamps and ink in memory keeping is easy to do and doesn't have to be time consuming or elaborate.  For me, the time it took for traditional scrapbooking resulted in getting very little accomplished and a feeling of defeat and being behind.

No more.  There is no right or wrong.  However you or I choose to preserve "our story" is the right way and will bring joy now and to future generations.

You can read a little more about this method of memory keeping HERE.

Today's video will give you a few tips for preserving these larger photos.  You'll see the process so thanks in advance for sticking with me through video!

Here are some of the supplies mentioned and used in today's video...

Product List

Using Project Life by Stampin' Up! has transformed my memory keeping!  Where it used to take hours and hours to create one 12 x 12 page layout, one can be completed in a few minutes.  Probably the most time consuming is the journaling but it's also very important.  Just record the dates, the who, the what, and/or your memories.  I promise you, it will be a treasure to your loved ones.

If you enjoyed today's video and post, please let me know in the comment section below. Thanks for tuning in today for these memory keeping/scrapbooking tips and have a great weekend!
