Simple Technique with Patterned Paper and Hello Ladybug

Paper-technique-ladybug

Today's card project features the simple technique with patterned paper from this week's premiere video.

I love the ladybug with the black and white background from the Zoo Crew 12" X 12" Designer Series Paper [161304] collection.  The pop of red is the perfect accent.

The photo below shows the inside of the card.  Using a scrap strip of patterned paper adds just the right touch of continuity from the card front.

Simple Technique with Patterned Paper

Paper-technique-card-courage-faithIn this week's premiere video, this simple technique with patterned paper was the star!  It is a very easy technique and an awesome way to use your patterned paper scraps.  Also featured is one of my favorite stamp sets in the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog, Courage & Faith.

Share your faith and bring encouragement to others with the Courage & Faith Stamp Set. This versatile set is perfect for creating cards, bookmarks, and more with its meaningful scripture references and beautiful designs. Use the included floral branch stamps or circle designs in this set to create perfect borders or centerpieces for your paper crafting projects. Here's another beautiful card from yesterday's post with this stamp set.

Reverse-resist-watercolor-ballet-beauty-1Today's project features an easy watercolor technique with Stampin' Up! Ballet Beauty. It's the perfect card to celebrate the dancers in your life as we approach dance recital season.

This technique is called Reverse Resist.  The color is applied before stamping and embossing the image instead of after.  This was demonstrated in this week's Facebook and YouTube LIVE.  The broadcast recording is below so you can learn the process and create beautiful cards like this one.

It's A Fiesta! Birthday with Stampin' Up! Taco Fiesta

Taco-fiesta-birthday-card-stampin-upToday's project is a birthday card using Stampin' Up! Taco Fiesta Photopolymer Stamp Set [160732] that was featured in our LIVE broadcast this week.

This is a precious stamp set and the paper strip technique on this card was just the right choice!

This cardmaking technique is created by starting off with 1/2" strips that are about 6" long. As you'll see in the video, it's very easy to get started.  Let's take a look...

Lisa's Inklings:

  • For this card, these 1/2" strips were arranged to a piece of Basic White cut at 4 x 5 1/4.
  • The placement of the first strip sets the angles and size of the overall pattern.
  • Patterned paper strips were used here but you can even use different colors of card stock.
  • Another option would be to alternate two different paper patterns.

If you enjoy this technique (and, using all those scraps), you'll enjoy this one, too!

Here's a look at the inside of the card...

Another Card with the No Line Watercolor Technique

Simple-no-line-watercolor-stampin-up-card-2

For today's project here on Ink and Inspirations, we have another card featuring the no-line watercolor technique using the Stampin' Up! clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. This is a very easy technique that I first demonstrated in my live video last week on Facebook and YouTube. I wanted to share another card using this same technique.

The Dainty Designs has some floral images that are perfect for this technique. With small flowers and delicate stems, it's easy to paint overtop using the tip of your Wink of Stella brush. This is also a technique that can be finished easily and quickly while providing beautiful results. Your family and friends will love the cards you make with this technique.

Suggestion: When gathering your supplies to create a card like this, include a light neutral ink such as Stampin' Up! Sahara Sand, the clear week of stellar brush, and our fluid 100 watercolor paper that is thick and rich and really makes your project look beautiful.

In the video below, I will go through the entire watercolor process. It doesn't take very long as you will be able to see. Be sure you stay and watch through the end of the video to see a photo of the finished card with some adjustments that were made and why I made them.  Let's take a look at this fun watercolor technique using Wink of Stella.

Easy Background Technique for Handmade Cards

Easy-backround-technique-stampin-up-card-idea

Today's project and video tutorial are all about an easy background technique for your handmade cards.  Your stamps and ink can easily be used for so many techniques and accents on your crafting projects.

In this quick video, you will see a two-step technique.  Both can be used separately but also complement the other when combined.  Let's take a look and get ready to try this magic on your cards!

Easy Background Technique for Handmade Cards

Lisa's Inklings:
-Blending brushes work wonderfully to apply ink to card stock in a subtle way.
-The repetitive background stamping works well with smaller images as well as sentiments.
-The additional technique shown is the layering of identical stamped images to give depth and dimension.

Easy-background-technique-catching-butterfliesTip:  I love combining baker's twine or linen thread with ribbon!  It gives your project extra texture.

Easy-backround-technique-stampin-up-card-ideaHere are the supplies used for today's cardmaking project.  I appreciate your support! When you shop with me, it supports my small business and enables me to continue providing content through this blog, via email, and social media.

The Angels Of Peace Cling Stamp Set (English) [156365] is one that can be used during the Christmas season or any time of year.  This little one carries a little holly sprig and there is a more mature angel.  Both are super sweet and pretty and are fun to color.

This project was originally seen on my YouTube Premiere last week.  You can tune in there on most Thursday evenings to see a new project or two and participate in the LIVE chat.

Here's a look at this card in the making with those easy techniques that I mentioned earlier.

And, you could always re-create it in a different color scheme.  It would be so pretty in traditional colors, too.  What do you think about this card in pink?  I am loving this color palette featured in the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper [156329].
